We feel that women need time in the woods with other women. Do you feel this, too? Whether you are an experienced backcountry guru or a wide-eyed curious doe, we welcome you to join us on a 16 mile backpacking trip!
This trip can serve as an introduction and/or practice in how to pack, prepare, cook and sleep in the backcountry. Your female leaders will guide you through these aspects of the trip as well as hold space for important conversation, personal reflection, while offering optional yoga in the mornings. We intend to create a connection between the women and the natural environment that surrounds you.
Two of these women will be your instructors:
Kelly is an experienced trip leader and Wilderness First Responder, trained and prepared to take care of participants, young and old. She loves to cook over a fire, watch the sunrise and swim in the river, singing and having fun along the way.
Jayme is a trained yoga instructor and a former professional wilderness guide. As a veteran to long distance hiking, she is ready to support your needs in the backcountry setting, while passing along the tips and tricks of trail life. For her it’s the simple joys and pleasures that come with living outdoors, such as a dip in a creek or the sound of a crackling fire, that inspire her to slow down and get outside.
Soupy’s most powerful teaching and growth moments have come alone in the woods on multiple-night overnights. Ask her about the time she explored off-trail in West Virginia, lost her maps, and had to track herself in order to find them! Or the time she got lost while trying to backpack to some hot springs in central California. Sense a theme? Soupy loves disconnecting and losing herself in the woods. She is a Wilderness First Responder.
Kate is a seasoned backpacker, paddler and hiker. She began backpacking over 25 years ago as a way to immerse herself more fully in nature. She has backpacked the Arizona desert, rainforests in Indonesia, grizzly country of Alaska and Wyoming, and explored land and sea in the Pacific Northwest. Kate loves dropping into the backcountry and discovering the wild treasures that lie beyond the beaten path. She is a Wilderness First Responder.
